Board certification in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork is the highest credential within the massage and bodywork profession. This certification has qualifications that vastly surpass any state’s current licensing requirements.

This honor demonstrates advanced assessment and critical thinking abilities, and superior knowledge in the following fields of study:

  • Massage modalities, techniques, and manual forces
  • Applied Sciences
    • Anatomy
    • Physiology
    • Kinesiology (study of movement)
    • Pathology/injury
    • Pharmacology
  • Professional Communication
  • Professionalism and Ethics
  • Laws and Business Practices
  • Client Assessment

Renewal certification requires criminal background checks every two years and continuing education requirements.

Certification allows for the use of the “BCTMB” title, replacing “CMT” (Certified Massage Therapist), “LMT” (Licensed Massage Therapist), and “RMT” (Registered Massage Therapist).

Aaron Harris, BCTMB provides therapeutic massage and bodywork in the greater Kansas City metropolitan area at his home studio in Raytown. He also provides mobile massage and bodywork services in client’s homes, offices, and medical facilities.

Aaron specializes in treating clients with chronic pain and medical issues.

“I started my massage career in 2012 by establishing a free massage clinic for patients with HIV/AIDS. I have worked with clients recovering from traumatic injuries from car accidents and falls, professional dancers and athletes, as well as the occasional celebrity. Massage therapy is a vital component of self care. I take a holistic view of your health and customize your sessions to make the most impact on your well being. My goal as a therapist is to affect real change in the way that you feel, not just during a session, but for days and years to come.

I am pleased to achieve board certification which will allow me to work more closely with other healthcare providers and veterans.”
